Dear East Hamilton Hurricane Supporters,
In October of 2006, it was announced that a new Middle/High School would be built to service the growing need for a school in the eastern part of the county. At that time, there was not an approved blue print for the school, a principal or staff, and a sufficient amount of funds.
A group was formed called Unite for School Success (USS). The mission of this group was to raise the necessary funds needed to insure our students had what was needed to open the school. To this extent, the mission was accomplished under very difficult economic times. We were able to supplement the school with some much desired and needed technology, lab equipment, musical items, start-up money for athletics as well as other items.
The USS has fulfilled its mission and is no longer needed. Again, the purpose of this group was to assist with school needs until the school opened. The school is awesome, the faculty and staff are fabulous, and the focus now is on exterior venues.
Going forward, the new “group” will be called the Cane Raisers! Please watch for them and their activity on the school website. Their focus is to raise money for the extra-curricular and athletic venues. I encourage everyone that was a part of the USS to continue to support the school thru this new group.
I want to offer a special thanks to all of you who supported the USS and new school. Without your time, talents, and financial support, we would not be where we are today.
Sincerely,
Curtis Smith
